Pricing

Paragon is licensed per developer who authors reports with it. Running it is not licensed at all: deploy to as many machines, environments and sites as you like, including your customers'. We do not count them and the software never asks.

Annual

$500 per developer seat, per year

Everything Paragon does, and every release published during your year. Renew to carry on.

Perpetual

$2,800 per developer seat, once

Every version we release in your first 12 months is yours to run for as long as you like, with no renewal and no expiry — and we keep fixing it. A newer version is a new purchase; see below.

What every licence includes

  • Unlimited deployment. Any number of servers, containers, sites and environments — yours or your customers'. Not a per-server or per-site licence, and not limited to one location.
  • Every output format. PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. There is no cheaper edition with fewer of them, and no feature is held back for a higher tier.
  • The designer and the engine. One licence covers both packages.
  • No network call, ever. Paragon does not phone home, does not activate against a server, and is not tied to a machine. Your documents and your data never leave your infrastructure.
  • The documents you generate are yours. Distribute them without restriction, royalty or further fee.

What counts as a seat

A seat is one named person who authors reports with the Paragon Designer during the licence term. Named, not concurrent: two developers who share a seat by taking turns are two seats.

Generating documents needs no seat. Only authoring does. An application that runs the engine in production, however many instances of it there are and however many documents it produces, is covered by the licence held by the team that wrote the reports.

The software does not enforce this. It records the number you bought, prints it in the startup log, and blocks nothing on it — a licence with three seats will not stop a fourth developer. The count is one you keep honestly, and it is a term of the licence agreement rather than a lock. If the team grows, buy the seats.

Try it before you buy it

Evaluate it free, for as long as you need. The packages are on nuget.org: install them and run the real engine against your own documents — every format, every feature, full fidelity — before you talk to us at all. No key, no sign-up, no time limit.

Until you buy, every document carries a watermark, as below. That is the only difference. Buy a licence and the same build, unchanged, produces clean output.

What happens when a licence lapses

Nothing stops working. Not your application, not the engine, not the designer. If your licence expires, is missing, or does not cover the build you are running, Paragon keeps generating — and the documents it produces carry a visible mark identifying them as made with an unlicensed copy. That mark is the whole of the consequence.

We are explicit about this because it is the part of a licence that matters most and is usually left vague. Taking a customer's production reporting offline over a lapsed invoice is not something we are willing to do, so we do not build the ability to do it. Documents you generated while licensed stay clean and stay yours; a renewal makes new output clean again immediately, without rebuilding or redeploying anything.

Two dates in your licence decide it. The first is when your right to run Paragon ends — for an annual licence, the end of your year; for a perpetual one, a date you never reach. The second is how new a build may be and still be covered, which is 12 months from purchase for both. A version released after that second date is marked unless you buy it.

Which versions you own, and how long we patch them

Two different things, and they are worth separating because they run on different clocks.

  • Which versions you own — your first 12 months. Every version we release in that period is yours, and yours permanently. You can run those versions for as long as you like, on as many machines as you like, forever. That never lapses and nothing takes it away.
  • How long we patch a version — while it is current or one behind. A version is supported for as long as it is the newest one or the one before it, and never for less than 24 months from its release, whichever lasts longer.

While a version is supported, fixing it is free. Bug fixes, and security updates to the components Paragon embeds, cost nothing to anyone who owns that version — nothing further to pay, and no new licence file to install. We do not charge to repair something that was already broken, and we do not charge to patch a vulnerability.

When a version falls out of support it keeps running. Nothing switches off and nothing starts watermarking — a perpetual licence means perpetual. We simply stop issuing fixes for it, so to keep receiving them you move to a version still in support. And because support is measured in versions rather than on a calendar, that can only happen once there are newer versions to move to.

A newer version is a new purchase. A release that adds capability — new features, or a native build for a .NET release that did not exist when you bought — is a product you did not buy. There is no maintenance subscription, no renewal invoice and no annual fee attached to a perpetual licence. You buy a version, you own it, and you decide when a newer one is worth having.

An annual licence never meets any of this. It always covers the current version, so it is always supported and always patched.

The small print

  • Currency and tax. All figures are in USD and exclude VAT, sales tax, withholding tax and any other duty payable where you are. Those are yours, and we will state them on an invoice where we are required to collect them.
  • This is a price list, not an offer. Nothing on this page is an offer capable of acceptance, and no contract comes into existence until we have agreed an order with you in writing.
  • Prices can change. The figures here are the figures on the date shown at the top. A change never affects a licence already bought — the price on your order is the price for the term it covers.
  • The licence agreement governs. Your use of the software is covered by the Paragon end user licence agreement, supplied with the software and available from us on request. Where anything on this page differs from it, that agreement takes precedence. This page is a summary written to be read, not the contract.
  • The seat count is contractual. The software records it and enforces nothing. It is a term you agree to, not a limit the product imposes.
  • Anything not listed here. Larger teams, longer commitments, academic and non-profit use, and embedding Paragon inside a product you sell on to your own clients are all things we would rather discuss than publish a grid for. Ask.
